Susan J. Kropf, president and chief operating officer, is retiring from Avon after 35 years with the company. Kropf will step down from her post on July 1 and will retire from the company at the end of the year.  In line with the company’s new global operating structure announced in December, no successor will be named. Instead, all business units and support functions will report directly to Andrea Jung, Avon’s chairman and chief executive.

In other news, Avon has hired AOL’s former Latin American chief executive Charles M. Herington as its new senior vice president, Latin America. Herington succeeds Amilcar Melendez, who retired from Avon in March after 37 years with the company.

Herington has 25 years experience working in Latin America with major brand name consumer marketing companies. He was president and chief executive officer, AOL Latin America, since 1999, launching the Internet service provider in that region. Prior to that post, he had a brief appointment as president, Revlon Latin America.
